Aligarh: A harrowing incident recently came to light where an eight-year-old girl was found dead at her neighbour’s residence. The police revealed, referencing the post-mortem that she was raped before being strangled. Two men have been apprehended in connection with the case, they added.

The police discovered the minor’s mutilated body concealed in a gunny bag at the accused’s house on Wednesday. A senior police official stated, “A panel of three doctors who conducted the postmortem of the eight-year-old girl has confirmed that the victim was sexually assaulted and later strangled to death.”

The two accused, who are siblings, were taken into custody on Wednesday and subsequently sent to jail on Thursday. Their third brother, a minor, was also detained but released after questioning. The main accused has reportedly confessed to the crime, admitting that he had given the girl Rs 20 to purchase ‘paan masala’ and a packet of chips. He allegedly lured her inside his house upon her return, where he assaulted and strangled her. With the assistance of his brother, he placed the body inside a gunny bag.

Initially, a murder case was filed against the duo on Wednesday, but in light of the post-mortem report findings, they are now facing additional charges of rape, along with relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The girl had gone missing from her home on Tuesday, and a breakthrough in the case occurred when police reviewed CCTV footage showing her entering her neighbour’s house.
