Another shocking incident from Kota has come to light where the police said another student in the country’s coaching hub, has died by suicide.

The police in this Rajasthan city reported that Bharat, a student preparing for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) for medical college admissions, hailed from Dholpur, a city within the same state but located 400 km away from Kota.
Every year, more than two lakh students relocate to Kota to prepare for competitive exams like the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) for engineering and the NEET.
Students in the coaching hub grapple with common struggles such as packed schedules, cut-throat competition, constant pressure to excel, the burden of parental expectations, and homesickness.
In 2017, the Kota Hostels’ Association considered installing spring coils in hostel fans. This device operates on the principle that when an object weighing more than 20 kg hangs from it, the attached spring expands, preventing anyone from attempting suicide. Simultaneously, a siren also activates.
