The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has made a significant breakthrough by arresting four terrorists with suspected ties to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). The terrorists, who are of Sri Lankan origin, were arrested at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad. Authorities have intensified security measures at the airport and are conducting further interrogation of the suspects to gather more information about their activities and plans.

The TV9 Gujarati reported that the arrested suspects have been taken to an undisclosed location for thorough interrogation. The exact reason for their presence at Ahmedabad airport remains uncertain.

The arrests happened before three IPL teams arrived at the airport for the qualifier and eliminator matches.

In March, authorities apprehended two senior ISIS leaders in India near the international border after crossing from Bangladesh. They were identified as Harish Ajmal Farooqi from Dehradun, Uttarakhand, and Anurag Singh from Panipat, Haryana.

Both individuals were heavily indoctrinated and involved in recruitment, terror funding, and planning terror acts using improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

The two previously arrested ISIS leaders had multiple cases registered against them by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in New Delhi and the ATS in Lucknow. The prompt action of the Gujarat ATS and subsequent security measures highlight ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and ensure public safety in the region.
