Watch | Man Drives THAR Via River Amid Lahaul-Manali Traffic Congestion

In a viral video, a Thar driver managed to beat the heavy traffic of Lahaul and Spiti after finding a way through Chandra River.

A hefty fine was issued against the Thar driver after a video widely circulated on social media platforms in which a Thar was seen crossing the Chandra River in Lahaul and Spiti, said police.

Notably, huge traffic congestion was reported in parts of Lahaul and Spiti, and people thronged to Himachal Pradesh to celebrate Christmas and the New Year. Multiple videos of traffic congestion were circulated on social media platforms.

It was reported that, amid traffic congestion, a Thar driver found a way to avoid traffic congestion through the Chandra River. When he was crossing the river, people recorded the video, which later went viral.

However, the Thar driver managed to cross the river. Taking cognizance of the viral video, the Himachal Pradesh Police took cognizance and issued a hefty fine against the driver.

SP Mayank Chaudhry told ANI, “Recently, a video went viral in which a Thar is crossing the river Chandra in District Lahaul Spiti. The said vehicle has been challenged under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and to ensure that no one commits such an offence in the future, the district police have deployed police personnel at the said place.” The viral video was also confirmed by the police.

Social media users commented that “Google adding this route on their Google Map,” while another wrote, “he just lost his way because of Google Map”

Himachal Pradesh Police also informed through their social media account that “the entry of 9,602 vehicles was registered between 8 am to 4 pm on December 25.”
