Tamil Nadu: Due to substantial downpour in the region, the Vellore district administration has suspended classes for students from grades 1 to 5 on September 21, said the officials.
Several districts in Tamil Nadu experienced heavy rainfall.
The impact of the heavy rainfall was evident on the Chennai-Bengaluru National Highway in Konavattam, Vellore, where waterlogging occurred on Thursday.
Additionally, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast indicating the likelihood of light to moderate, and in some areas, widespread rainfall, with isolated instances of heavy rainfall expected over the interior regions of Tamil Nadu on September 21st and 22nd.

Earlier this week, the IMD reported that the southwest monsoon had been active over Tamil Nadu, resulting in rainfall across various parts of South and North Tamil Nadu, along with light rain in Puducherry. The IMD also predicted heavy rainfall in specific locations, including the Nilgiris and the hilly areas of Coimbatore, Theni, Dindigul, and Madurai districts in Tamil Nadu.

The IMD’s forecast for today includes the expectation of light to moderate rainfall in a few areas, with the possibility of thunderstorms and lightning in one or two places in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Furthermore, they anticipate similar weather conditions, with light to moderate rain in a few areas and the potential for thunderstorms and lightning in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal regions tomorrow (Wednesday).
