Jaipur was tense on Tuesday following the tragic death of Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, the national president of Rajput Karni Sena. The city saw heavy police presence after three individuals, pretending to meet Gogamedi, fired more than 15 bullets at him at his residence. The Rajput community expressed immense grief and called for a state-wide bandh to demand a fair investigation into the murder.

Protests erupted across Jaipur as people gathered outside the Metro Mass Hospital, where Gogamedi was taken after the incident. Many leaders, including Vasundhara Raje, conveyed their condolences over his demise.

The Rajasthan Governor, Kalraj Mishra, reviewed the state’s law and order situation following the murder. In Udaipur, supporters of Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi protested outside the District Collectorate. Meanwhile, DGP Umesh Mishra formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the case, identifying two accused individuals, Rohit Rathod Makrana and Nitin Fauji, with rewards announced for their arrest.

Protests extended to Bhilwara, where Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi’s supporters halted a train. Karni Sena members in Bhopal also protested against the tragic incident.

The president of Karni Sena, Suraj Pal Amu, demanded immediate arrests, vowing to continue protests until justice is served. He criticized the government for ignoring Gogamedi’s security requests.

The situation prompted strong reactions from politicians. Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal condemned the incident, calling it a result of the decline in law and order in Rajasthan. Vasundhara Raje expressed sorrow over Gogamedi’s death, and BJP leaders criticized the state government for the deteriorating law and order situation.

In Jaipur, BJP leader Diya Kumari expressed shock, emphasizing the need for better security measures. She highlighted incidents like this becoming common during the Congress government’s tenure.

In response to the bandh, shops remained closed in Ajmer. Heavy police deployment was observed in Jaipur, and the police assured that the culprits would be apprehended soon.

Governor Kalraj Mishra sought a report from the Director General of Police, Umesh Mishra, regarding the security lapse. Investigations are ongoing, particularly focusing on the reason behind the attackers targeting Naveen Shaktawat, who was with Gogamedi, resulting in his tragic demise as well.
