New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi Thursday met coolies and porters at Anand Vihar railway station in the national capital to understand their working condition. During his visit to the Railway station, the former Congress president sat among the coolies to speak at length with them. He discussed the issues that coolies were facing.
Rahul also donned the coolie attire – a red shirt – and lifted luggage over his head. “People’s hero Rahul Gandhiji met his porter friends at the Anand Vihar railway station in Delhi today. Recently, a video had gone viral in which the porter friends of the railway station had expressed their desire to meet him,” the Congress said in a post on X.

It is worth noting that Rahul Gandhi’s visit came a few months after some porters urged him to meet them. In an appeal to the Congress leader, the potters asked Gandhi to interact with them to understand their problems and make efforts to help them get promoted.
Earlier last month, Gandhi visited Leh-Ladakh and held interactions with local people. Prior to that in May, the Congress MP traveled by truck overnight from Delhi to Chandigarh where he interacted with truck drivers at the dhaba to understand the challenges they face.
During his multiple visits to the people of working class, the Congress leaders held interactions with them to discuss about their issues. Earlier, Gandhi hosted a lunch for vegetable vendor Rameshwar at his residence after the latter expressed wish to meet him.
A video of Rameshwar went viral earlier in which he cried due to the rising inflation and he could not fill his vegetable stock. His interview came at a time when the tamatoe prices were skyrocketing.
