Rajya Sabha MP Pramod Tiwari said that Rahul Gandhi comes from the Gandhi family, so it was necessary to consider this while awarding punishment. He said that if the sentence was less than two years, his Lok Sabha membership would have been saved.

Responding to a question he said that Rahul Gandhi comes from a Gandhi family. His family background should have been considered before awarding a jail sentence to him.
