Tajikistan Earthquake: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday assured to provide aid to Tajikistan after an earthquake hit the latter this morning, official sources said.

An earthquake of 6.8 magnitudes hit the eastern part of Tajikistan, leaving the locals in a devastated position. As per government sources, India is in touch with the Tajik government and will stand to assist in every possible way. 

“The prime minister has taken stock of the situation in Tajikistan and is monitoring development relating to the aftermath of the earthquake,” A government source said.

Along with having been in touch with Tajik officials, the Indian government is also monitoring the situation closely, sources added.

Earlier this month, India sent a rescue and medical team along with relief materials to Turkey after a disastrous earthquake hit the country where many were trapped under heaps of damaged buildings. 

As part of quick assistance, India provided help to Syria as well, which also felt calamitous trembles of quake. The quake in both countries left thousands of people homeless.
