Minimum Balance Limit: A savings account is one of the most essential requirements for citizens, having one or many is quite common nowadays. It has many benefits but it comes with conditions. If you have a savings account then you must know about minimum balance criteria otherwise you will end up paying an unwanted fine. 

Every bank has its criteria to maintain a minimum balance in saving accounts. Today, We will talk about the minimum balance limit criteria of major banks.

HDFC Bank 

In Urban areas – 10,000

In Semi-urban areas – 5000

In rural areas – 2,500

All the saving account holders of HDFC bank need to maintain a minimum balance as per their branch location.

State bank Of India

SBI does not have any minimum balance criteria. SBI had removed the minimum balance requirement in the covid period.

Punjab National bank

In Urban areas – 2,000

In Semi-urban areas – 1,000

In rural areas – 500

ICICI Bank

In Urban areas – 10,000

In Semi-urban areas – 5000

In rural areas – 2,000
