New Delhi: The Indian Army has decided to move the Army Day Parade, which is held in Delhi on January 15 every year, outside the national capital.

According to the Army officials, next year in 2023, on January 15, the Army Day Parade will be held in the Southern Command area.

Notably, on this day there was a transfer of power to India from the British. On this day, there is a military parade and all those new technologies are displayed, which the Indian Army has either acquired or inducted into service.

The Indian Army was officially established on 1 April 1895. The army got its first chief after India got independence on 15 January 1949. The Indian Army was officially handed over to the country on this day.

On this day, General Sir Francis Butcher handed over the command of the Indian Army to Lieutenant General KM Cariappa. In 1947, Lieutenant General Cariappa led the Indian Army in the war against Pakistan on the western frontier.
