New Delhi: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar, while addressing his supporters in Mumbai on Wednesday, slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and asked why did it alligned with the NCP whom the latter had earlier called “corrupt.”

“You (BJP) called the NCP corrupt. So, why have you allied with the NCP now?…Whatever happened to Uddhav Thackeray has been repeated,” asked the NCP founder.

The NCP chief further stressed that, “We don’t have hunger for power; we will keep working for the people.” “Today, the entire country is watching us…This meeting is historic for NCP. We have to keep marching ahead despite the hurdles in our way,” he added.

The NCP chief also addressed Ajit Pawar’s conflict and said the latter should have apporached him. He said, “Ajit Pawar should have spoken to me if he had any problems. If he had something on his mind he could have approached me.”

However, Sharad Pawar also said, “The party symbol is with us, it is not going anywhere. The people and party workers who brought us to power are with us.”

Sharad Pawar’s Faction MLA Equation 

A total of 13 MLAs, 3 MLCs and 5 MPs were present at Sharad Pawar-led meeting at YB Chavan centre in Mumbai. The 13 MLAs include Anil Deshmukh, Rohit Pawar, Rajendra Shingne, Ashok Pawar, Kiran Lahmate, Prajakta Tanpure, Balasaheb Patil, Jitendra Awhad, Chetan Vithal Tupe, Jayant Patil, Rajesh Tope, Sandeep Kshirsagar and Devendra Bhuyar.

The 5 MPs included Srinivas Patil (Lok Sabha), Supriya Sule (Lok Sabha), Amol Kolhe (Lok Sabha), Fauzia Khan (Rajya Sabha) and Vandana Chavan (Rajya Sabha). The 3 MLCs included Shashikant Shinde, Babajani Durani, Eknath Khadse.
