Varun Gandhi will not contest in the Lok Sabha elections. His team informed on Wednesday that Varun will focus on election campaigning for his mother, Maneka Gandhi, in Sultanpur. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) did not allocate a ticket to Varun Gandhi from Pilibhit this time. Instead, they have fielded Jitin Prasada in the electoral arena.

Maneka Gandhi, Varun’s mother, has been given the ticket from Sultanpur by the BJP again. It should be noted that Varun Gandhi had purchased the nomination papers, after which there were discussions that he might contest the Lok Sabha election as an independent candidate from Pilibhit by rebelling against the BJP. However, his team released a statement putting a halt to these speculations.

Earlier, the Uttar Pradesh BJP President, Chaudhary Bhupendra Singh, had commented on Varun Gandhi not being given a ticket, saying that this time the party has not provided him with the opportunity to contest the elections, but he is with us. The party leadership must have surely thought something better about him. When Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury invited Varun to join the Congress, Bhupendra Singh responded, “Varun Gandhi is a true soldier of the BJP. There is complete trust that he will remain in the BJP. He comes from the Gandhi family, and it is the BJP that has made him a Member of Parliament three times.”
