The “Reel it, feel it” Instagram Reels tagline led to trouble for 38 medical students at Gadag Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) in Karnataka. They were punished for recording reels on the hospital premises, resulting in a 10-day extension of their housemanship training.

Dr. Basavaraj Bommanhalli, the Director of GIMS, condemned the students’ actions, calling it a serious mistake. He emphasized that they should have refrained from such activities within the hospital to avoid inconveniencing patients.

He further added that No official permission was granted for such activities. The students claimed they recorded the reels for a pre-graduation ceremony, but we have taken note of this. Their housemanship, which was originally scheduled to conclude in the next 10–20 days, has been extended by an additional 10 days.

This development follows Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundurao dismissing a doctor for organizing a pre-wedding photoshoot in the operation theatre of a government hospital in Chitradurga district.

The incident came to light when videos surfaced on social media showing medical students dancing to Hindi and Kannada songs in the corridor of the district hospital, sparking widespread attention.
