Manipur Violence: Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday said that a judicial commission will be formed under the chairmanship of a retired High Court judge to investigate the violence incidences that happened in Manipur.

80 people have lost their lives due to violence that started on May 3. To take The Home Minister is in Manipur for the last three days. He has been holding meetings with security officials and representatives of communities so that situation can be normalised soon.

The Home Minster announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh and a government job to one family person of the deceased. Five lakh rupees will be given by the central government and five lakh rupees will be given by the state government.

On the last day of his visit to the northeastern state, Shah said a judicial commission headed by a retired justice would probe the violence to find out who is responsible for this violence. 

He said that a peace committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of the Governor of Manipur, which includes businessmen, sportspersons, representatives of political parties, and representatives of civil society. They will work to restore peace in the state.

The Home Minister also said that CBI will investigate 6 cases related to violence. So far five cases have been registered. Amit Shah said that he wanted to assure the people of Manipur that the investigation would be done without any bias and that the real reason behind the violence would be found out. Strict action will be taken against those who are responsible so that such violence does not happen in future, he added.

The home minister announced that 30 thousand metric tonnes of rice would be given to the state. Apart from this, eight teams of doctors will be sent to work in Moreh, Churachandpur and Kangpokpi areas. Three teams have already reached and the rest are on the way. Apart from this, there will be 15 petrol pumps in the state which will provide 24-hour service.
