Jitendra Awhad, the leader of the Nationalist Congress Party-Sharad Pawar faction, has sparked controversy by referring to Lord Ram as a non-vegetarian in a recent statement. Speaking on Wednesday at an event in Shirdi, Maharashtra, Awhad claimed that Lord Ram was not a vegetarian, else how could he have survived for 14 years in a forest?
“Lord Ram was not a vegetarian, he was a non-vegetarian. Where would a person living in the forest for 14 years go to find vegetarian food,” said the NCP leader.
Hindu priests and members of the Bharatiya Janata Party announced Awhad as a “lier” in response to his remarks. Ayodhya Seer Paramhans Acharya bursts out in anger at Jitendra Awadh over Non-veg Eating Remark on Shree Ram.
