Mandi: In light of the ongoing heavy rains and landslides that have led to road blockages across various parts of Mandi district, a two-day holiday has been announced for all private and government educational institutions, vocational training centers, and Anganwadi centers on August 16 and 17.
Arindam Chowdhary, the District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner, has issued official orders to this effect. This decision has been taken to ensure the safety of students and staff amidst the challenging weather conditions.

The administration had already declared a holiday on August 14 for educational institutions in the district due to heavy rainfall and associated road blockages.
With a total of 403 roads, including two National Highways, being affected by the heavy rains and landslides, the situation called for these preventive measures. The order highlights the recurring landslides and their potential risks in various areas.

District officials urge residents and travelers to exercise caution, especially near rivers, drains, and areas susceptible to landslides. Additionally, the Deputy Commissioner has provided emergency contact numbers, 8544771889 and 9459455714, for immediate assistance through the District Disaster Management Center Mandi.
