Divya Pahuja: Gurugram model Divya Pahuja’s body was recovered from Tohana Canal in Haryana, marking a major breakthrough for the Haryana Police 11 days after her tragic murder.

A 25-member National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team had been dispatched to Patiala to assist in the search for Divya’s body. Collaborating with Gurugram and Punjab Police, the NDRF team scoured the canal, stretching from Patiala to the Khanauri border. However, it was in Tohana Canal that Divya’s remains were finally found. Upon retrieval, the police promptly shared a photograph of the recovered body with Divya’s family, who were able to positively identify her. Meanwhile, six teams from the Gurugram Crime Branch were tirelessly engaged in the search operation.

The grim sequence of events began on January 2 when Divya was fatally shot in room number 111 of The City Point Hotel in Gurugram. Hotel owner Abhijeet Singh was identified as the mastermind behind the heinous act. The case took a turn towards resolution after the arrest of Balraj, a suspect apprehended in West Bengal. During interrogation, Balraj disclosed that he had disposed of Divya’s body in the Tohana canal in Haryana, following Abhijeet Singh’s orders.

Balraj, who was intending to flee to Bangkok, was apprehended along with Ravi Banga at Kolkata Airport. Investigations revealed that Balraj had placed Divya’s body in the trunk of Abhijeet’s BMW car for disposal. Abhijeet, aided by two hotel staff members, wrapped Divya’s body in a blanket and stored it in the car. Subsequently, Abhijeet handed over the keys to his accomplice Balraj, entrusting him with the gruesome task of disposing of the body. For this sinister assignment, Balraj reportedly received Rs 10 lakh from Abhijeet. The coordinated efforts of law enforcement agencies have unraveled the layers of this tragic incident, providing some closure to the devastating loss of Divya Pahuja.
