Former J&K chief minister Mehbooba Mufti extended condolences to the bereaved family, stating, “This is the third targeted killing in less than ten days. Condolences to the bereaved family.”

Meanwhile, the Congress criticized the Centre over the issue of terrorism incidents in the valley. The incident comes less than a week after terrorists shot dead a migrant worker from Bihar in south Kashmir’s Anantnag. The victim, Raja Shah, was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy outfit of the Lashkar-e-Taiba claimed the responsibility for the attack on a telegram channel linked to the organisation. The terror outfit termed the killing as a “gift for your elections.”

The deceased, Raja Shah, a resident of Bihar, sustained two bullet injuries on the neck and abdomen. On April 8, terrorists shot and injured a non-local tourist cab driver in the Shopian district of south Kashmir.
