A 52-year-old Ghaziabad-based man allegedly killed his wife with a sword after she sought 10 minutes more to serve a cup of tea on Tuesday morning.
Police said the deceased was identified as Sundari, a mother of three children, including two boys and a girl. The woman resided with her husband, Dharamveer, a daily wager, in Ghaziabad.
“On Tuesday morning, when Dharamveer woke-up, he demanded a cup of tea from Sundari, who was already making tea in the kitchen.” said police.
After five minutes, Dharamveer approached Sundari in a makeshift kitchen on the terrace and demanded tea again. Sundari asked him to wait for ten minutes to get ready.
Engraged over the incident, Dharamveer brought a sword and attacked his wife from behind. When their children, who were sleeping in another room rushed to check after hearing screams, they were shocked to find Sundari bleeding profusely.
When Dharamveer moved towards his children in anger, they rushed back into their room. Subsequently, cops received information, and a case under Section 302 of the IPC was registered, and the accused was arrested. It was revealed that Dharamveer was addicted to tea, and he used to consume more than 6 cups of tea a day.
