New Delhi: Several Senior Congress leaders including Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and party’s general secretary Jairam Ramesh Thursday stated that they would rather focus on the success of “Bharat Jodo Yatra” than countering criticism.
On the second day of Congress’ campaign for party’s revival, Jairam Ramesh said, “We are focused like Arjun was focused on the fish when he went for Draupadi’s swayamvar. We have only one single vision right now – to ensure the successful completion of Bharat Jodo Yatra.”
“I don’t want to waste my time countering the arguments from the other side. There will always be professional critics, arm-chair critics, people who will raise questions in India for everything you do,” he added.
Meanwhile, CM Gehlot also said, “Beginning of ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ was great… don’t care about the counterside. Counterside talked about a Congress-free nation, now they’re furious and talk about Pakistan and the Yatra. They should rather govern and think about inflation and unemployment.”

This comes after many leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party started slamming Congress for “padyatra”. Kerala BJP leader K Surendran took a jibe at on the schedule of the campaign.
He pointed out that Congress will spend “20 days in Kerala, which only has 20 Lok Sabha seats and two days in Uttar Pradesh which has 80 seats”.
On Wednesday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a campaign called “Bharat Jodo Yatra”. He started his journey from Kanyakumari with an eye toward the general election of 2024. In roughly 150 days, the 3,500 kilometer long yatra will be completed.
