Passenger Train Hits 12 People In Jamtara, Jharkhand; 2 Bodies Found

The Express train came to a stop upon receiving reports of a fire on board. In a desperate bid to escape the danger, passengers resorted to jumping from the train. Tragically, as they did so, the Jhajha-Asansol train passed over them, further complicating the situation and posing additional risks to their lives.

A train tragedy occurred at Kalajharia railway station in Jamtara on Wednesday, where passengers were struck by the train. Two bodies have been found so far, and numerous injuries have been reported.

According to a report, passengers leaped onto the track following an alleged fire on Anga Express, leading to fatalities as another train hit them. Eastern Railway CPRO, however, refuted claims of a fire, stating that two individuals, not passengers, were fatally struck while walking on the track by Jhajha-Asansol passenger train.

The Eastern Railway also claimed that the accident happened at least 2 kms away from where the Anga Express stopped.

Law enforcement and medical personnel are present at the scene of the accident. The number of fatalities is anticipated to increase as additional bodies are being recovered.

CPRO Eastern Railways Kausik Mitra informed that a three-member JAG committee has been formed to inquire about the cause of the accident.
