Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has leveled serious allegations against the BJP while addressing a press conference with Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. He stated that the facts revealed regarding electoral funding are shameful. The image of democracy built over the past 70 years is now being questioned. The ruling party has amassed thousands of crores of rupees. All accounts of the opposition have been frozen. Closing the bank accounts of the opposition will have a detrimental effect on democracy.

Rahul Gandhi added that they can’t conduct any campaign activities, support our workers, or endorse our candidates. Their leaders are unable to travel across the country as they doesn’t have money to buy train tickets

Kharge also mentioned that, on the contrary, there is a conspiracy to freeze the bank accounts of the main opposition party, depriving them of the financial means to compete in elections. To uphold democracy, equal opportunities must be guaranteed. Kharge appealed to constitutional bodies, emphasizing that if they seek impartial elections, they should permit unrestricted access to our bank accounts. No political party is subject to income tax regulations.

Kharge stated that the ruling party has played a dangerous game with the opposition. The BJP has amassed 56% of its funding through electoral bonds, which is unprecedented in the last 70 years. There is no record of any ruling party receiving such a large amount of funding before. Besides the funding through electoral bonds, there is no accountability for the cash that is received. This government is collecting money in various ways for the first time.

Former Congress President Sonia Gandhi also launched a full-scale assault against Prime Minister Narendra Modi amidst the party’s financial controversy. Speaking at a press conference, she accused PM Modi of making a “systematic effort” to financially cripple the Congress party.
