Biparjoy Cyclone: Biparjoy storm has caused huge destruction in Gujarat. The storm is expected to weaken over Rajasthan on Friday afternoon. Two people have died due to the storm while 22 people have been injured.

The cyclone is now set to enter Rajasthan, where strong winds uprooted poles and trees in Dhorimanna town of Barmer district. A red alert has been issued as the MeT has predicted that there will be heavy rains in Barmer district after 11 am.

The effect of cyclone Biparjoy is being seen in Kutch. Strong winds are blowing in the city. Trees were uprooted due to the impact of the cyclone.

The storm had knocked near the Jakhau port of Gujarat on Thursday evening

Cyclone Biparjoy made landfall near Gujarat’s Jakhau port on Thursday evening, after spending more than 10 days in the Arabian Sea, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. Meanwhile, Western Railway released a list of trains running on Friday (June 16) which have been fully canceled or delayed as a precautionary measure in cyclone-prone areas over Western Railway.

In Gujarat, JC Goswami, executive engineer of PGVCL, Morbi, said, “Electric wires and poles were uprooted by the strong wind, causing power failure in 45 villages in Maliya tehsil. We are restoring power in 9 villages and power has been restored in rest of the villages.”

Gujarat Relief Commissioner Alok Pandey said 23 cattle have died, 524 trees have fallen and electric poles have also fallen in some places, leaving 940 villages without electricity.
