On Thursday, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi and his party extended their full sympathy to Hina Shahab, the wife of former Bahubali leader and ex-MP Mohammad Shahabuddin. Akhtarul Iman, the sole MLA of AIMIM in Bihar and the head of the state unit made this announcement. He stated that if Hina Shahab contests the Lok Sabha elections as an independent candidate or on behalf of any like-minded party, AIMIM will support her candidacy. Hina Shahab, who had previously contested several Lok Sabha elections from Siwan as a candidate of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), is the subject of speculation in political circles regarding the RJD’s ticket allocation this time. Hina Shahab has announced her intention to run as an independent candidate, stating that either she or her son will contest the elections.

AIMIM: Full Support To the Wife Of the late Shahabuddin

Akhtarul Iman stated, “We extend full sympathy to the wife of late Shahabuddin. If she opts to contest the elections independently or representing a like-minded party, AIMIM will extend complete support and assistance for her campaign.” When asked about Asaduddin Owaisi’s potential campaign for Hina Shahab in Bihar, Iman responded, “We cannot confirm his plans as he has numerous commitments. However, I have communicated our party’s intentions.”

Iman also announced that AIMIM has now chosen to contest elections on 15 seats in the state, despite having recently declared their intention to contest on only 11 seats in Bihar. He stated, “We can contest on additional seats.” For instance, our members have requested to contest elections from Madhubani. If we decide to do so, we will announce it accordingly.” Iman will once again be a candidate from Kishanganj, the sole Muslim-dominated seat in Bihar, where he garnered approximately three lakh votes in the previous general elections. Hina Shahab, the wife of Shahabuddin, contested the Lok Sabha elections for the first time in 2009 but faced defeat. Hina has also faced defeat in the 2014 and 2019 elections.
