MMS Scandal: Following Chandigarh University, there have been reports of a student being made MMS at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay as well. It is claimed that a canteen worker at IIT Bombay made the MMS of a student present in the hostel’s washroom. The police arrested the accused canteen worker after learning about the case.
According to media reports, the university student noticed a mobile phone outside the bathroom window. She immediately informed the hostel authorities. Following the information, the Dean arrived at the college. On the other hand, the police attempted but failed to identify the accused using CCTV footage from outside the hostel building.

Canteen employee arrested under Section 354-C
According to the information, five employees who worked at the canteen late at night were questioned at the Powai police station. Following questioning, one of them was arrested under Section 354-C of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Further investigation is underway.
Accused’s phone is being investigated
An IIT Bombay spokesperson stated that the institute was unaware of any footage found on the accused’s phone. At the same time, a police officer stated that their preliminary investigation has revealed that there was no recording on the accused’s phone.
At the same time, the female students have demanded increased campus security and changes, particularly in the design of bathrooms, to ensure that such incidents do not occur again.
At the same time, the campus canteen has been closed for the time being. According to reports, the canteen will only open if only women work there.
