Oscars 2023: ‘Pride of every Indian’, says MM Keeravaani while accepting Academy Award

Oscars 2023: The Oscars 2023 went to MM Keeravaani and Chandrabose for their work on RRR’s Naatu Naatu. The song took home the award for Best Original Song. To accept the prize, the two entered the stage. In a song, MM Keeravaani declared RRR to be the pride of every Indian. 

The entire RRR crew, including SS Rajamouli, Jr. NTR, Ram Charan, and others, attended the 95th Academy Awards. The award ceremony featured a live performance of Naatu Naatu.

Naatu Naatu was live-performed by singers Kaala Bhairava and Rahul Sipligunj at the 2023 Oscars. Los Angeles-based dancers recreated Jr. NTR and Ram Charan’s popular song.

The Academy Award for Naatu Naatu was given to MM Keeravaani and lyricist Chandrabose. After he accepted the honour, the composer started singing. He said, “Thank you Academy. I grew up listening to carpenters and now here I am with the Oscars.”

He then sang a song with the lyrics, “There was only one wish on my mind. So was Rajamouli and my family. RRR has to win. Pride of every Indian and must put me on top of the world.” He concluded his speech by saying, “Thank you Kartikeya for making this possible.”

Fans Reactions 

On Monday, March 13, Naatu Naatu made history at the Oscars. To win the Academy Award for Best Original Song, it outperformed the opposition. The chart-topper from RRR was up for a Grammy Award with Tell It Like a Woman’s Applause, Top Gun Maverick’s Hold My Hand, Black Panther Wakanda Forever’s Raise Me Up, and This is a Life’s This is a Life (Everything Everywhere All at Once).

Ram Charan and Jr. NTR play the revolutionary Alluri Sita Rama Raju and the tribal chief Komaram Bheem, respectively, in the historical drama RRR. Their fight against oppression and the exploration of their relationship are the main themes of the fictional tale, which is set in pre-independence India. Its cast includes Ray Stevenson, Samuthirakani, Ajay Devgn, and Alia Bhatt. On March 25, 2022, the film made its debut.
