New Delhi: Liger starring Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday received an average response on its second day of release. The Hindi version earned Rs 4.50 crore on day two, bringing the total for the two days to 5.75 crore. The Hindi version of the film was released in a small number of theatres late Thursday night, earning 1.25 crore from paid previews.

Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared two-day collections of the Hindi version of Liger. He tweeted on Saturday, “#Liger opens to mixed response on Day 1… Good/ fair in mass pockets, dull/ordinary at metros/multiplexes… Needs to improve its performance on Sat and Sun… Thu [preview shows] 1.25 cr, Fri ₹ 4.50 cr. Total: ₹ 5.75 cr. #India biz. Note: #Hindi version.”

Liger, directed by Puri Jagannadh, opened in theatres on Thursday to mixed to negative reviews from critics. It also features prominent performances by Ramya Krishnan, Ronit Roy, and Makarand Deshpande, as well as an extended cameo by boxer Mike Tyson.

The South Indian states where the film was expected to draw the most attention have seen a 77% drop from the opening day. Not only that, but the film’s box office in the United States dropped by 81%. According to Bollywood Hungama, the film earned Rs 4.77 crore in North America after only two days.

The pan-India film stars Vijay as a stuttering mixed martial arts boxer, Ananya as his girlfriend, and Ramya as his mother. It was Vijay’s Bollywood debut. It was released in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam, among other languages. Puri Jagannadh and Charmme Kaur’s Puri Connects and Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions are behind the film.
