New Delhi: A Delhi Court has allowed an extension of CBI custody of a Russian nationalist till October 9 for his alleged involvement in connection of JEE Main-2021 scam case.

As per the news agency UNI, Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Anjani Mahajan who was hearing the case on behalf of Prosecution approved the extension for another three days.

The CBI had urged the court to allow the extension citing that the foreign national is yet to give explanation on the data collected from the confiscated laptops, mobiles and other devices.

In September last year, the CBI had filed a case against a Private Company and its entire staff for allegedly manipulating the JEE Main 2021 process. The probe agency alleged that the company in question was targeting those seeking admission to NIITs and offer them to solve their question papers in exchange of money.

The CBI had conducted several raids in Delhi, NCR, Pune, Jamshedpur, Indore and Bengaluru. During which, it confiscated laptops, PCs, post-dated cheques along with many incriminating documents.

However, the kingpin of the paper leak was arrested along with the foreign national after his arrival from Kazakhstan.
