Kanpur Fire: A sudden fire broke out in the readymade garments market in the Basmandi area of Kanpur at around 2 am on Friday. According to reports, about 600 cloth shops have been gutted in the blaze. After the information about the fire, several fire-fighting vehicles reached the spot and are trying to control the fire.
According to the information, the first fire broke out in the AR tower of the Basmandi area of the Anwarganj police station area. Subsequently, due to strong winds, the fire reached the nearby Masood Tower 1, Masood Tower 2 and Hamraj Complex. More than 600 shops are being told in the four complexes. About 60 fire-fighting vehicles are present on the spot, which are trying to control the fire.

Kanpur’s Joint CP said that the massive fire broke out in AR Tower in the Basmandi area of Kanpur in the early hours of Friday. Fire tenders are present at the spot to douse the fire. He told that efforts are on to control the fire.

Fire due to short circuit
According to reports, the short circuit fire took a severe form in a few minutes at around 2 am on Friday. Due to the strong wind, the fire gradually engulfed the surrounding buildings as well.

Chief Fire Officer Deepak Sharma, Latush Road Fire Officer Kailash Chandra and Fazalganj Fire Officer Vinod Kumar Pandey along with Anwarganj police reached the spot after getting information about the fire in the shops. Police Commissioner BP Jogdand also reached the spot on the information of a massive fire in the city.

Chief fire officer assures investigation
Chief Fire Officer Deepak Sharma said that a preliminary investigation has found a short circuit to be the cause of the fire, but further investigation will be done to ascertain the exact cause after the fire is brought under control. Along with this, fire safety standards will also be checked in the market complex.
