New Delhi: The 16-year-old son of the deputy superintendent of police in Jammu and Kashmir allegedly beaten and dragged a 58-year-old man from Mumbai. This came after the minor hit the victim with his car while the later was on his scooter.

When the victim went to the minor and warned him against the rash driving, the minor assaulted him, leaving the elderly seriously injured who is currently undergoing the treatment and is on life support.

The teen was riding a Mahindra Thar, reported Hindustan Times. Speaking on a condition of anonymity to the news portal, a police official familiar with the case said the victim was identifies as Elias Kazmi who is a videographer from Mumbai. Kazmi was riding a scooter at Bhatindi in Jammu when a Mahindra Thar came in speed and hit him. A minor was driving the vehicle.

As per the information, the victim was trying to tell the accused about the dangers of reckless driving but he started making efforts to flee. This infuraited the teen and then, he started thrashing him and also dragged him, said the officer.

However, the police added that the boy has been booked under section 307 of the IPC and sent to a juvenile home. According to officials, Kazmi is in critical condition and is currently on life support.

“The victim was seriously injured. He is still on ventilator at the emergency intensive care unit of the hospital,” Deputy Medical Director of Government Medical College and Hospital Dr Bharat Bhushan said.
