GRAP-3 Revoked In Delhi-NCR
The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) on Sunday revoked GRAP III measures in Delhi-NCR after witnessing significant improvement in the AQI.
The decision of CAQM came after noting a downward trend in the AQI levels of Delhi. The improvement in the air quality was attributed to rains caused by Western Disturbance on 11 and 12 January.
CAQM said, “Owing to a WD (Western Disturbance) on 11th-12th Jan, 2025, there were rains around Delhi-NCR and the AQI of Delhi has shown a significant improvement owing to the favourable meteorological conditions. The AQI of Delhi has been recorded as 278 at 4:00 PM today which is 72 points below the 350 mark to implement the Stage-III as per the extant directives of the Hon’ble Supreme Court.”
As per the IMD, another western disturbance is going to affect the mainland on 14th-15th January.
However, actions under Stage I and II remain in effect in Delhi-NCR. All the agencies have been asked to monitor the situation so that AQI doesn’t slip further.
Furthermore, the CAQM said, “While GRAP Stage-III is being revoked, keeping in view the winter season when weather conditions may not be always favorable and in order to ensure that the AQI levels do not slip further, citizens are requested to strictly adhere to the citizen charter under GRAP-II 10. The Sub-Committee, shall be keeping a close.”
