The Aadhaar card is an essential document, and losing or damaging it can hinder various important tasks. To address this issue, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the body responsible for issuing Aadhaar cards, has introduced the option to order a PVC Aadhaar card online. This PVC card, which is essentially a plastic card with Aadhaar information printed on it, can be obtained through the official UIDAI website by paying a nominal fee of just Rs 50.

PVC cards, short for Polyvinyl Chloride cards, are designed to be durable and secure. They include features like a QR code, hologram, microtext, date of issue, and other card-related information. This card is conveniently wallet-sized, similar to an ATM or debit card, and is less susceptible to damage.

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to order a PVC Aadhaar card:

  • Visit the UIDAI website and apply online.
  • Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number.
  • Fill in the security code or captcha.
  • Request an OTP (One Time Password).
  • Enter the OTP received on your registered mobile number and submit.
  • Go to the ‘My Aadhaar’ section and select ‘Order Aadhaar PVC Card.’
  • Review your information and click ‘Next.’
  • Choose your preferred payment method, such as credit/debit card, net banking, or UPI.
  • Complete the payment by paying a fee of Rs 50.
  • Once the payment is made, UIDAI will process your Aadhaar PVC card order.
  • After processing, UIDAI will hand over the Aadhaar card to India Post within 5 days.
  • The postal department will deliver your PVC Aadhaar card to your doorstep via speed post.

It’s important to note that Aadhaar cards are available in three formats: Aadhaar letter, e-Aadhaar, and PVC card. The PVC cards are a recent addition, providing a more durable and convenient option for cardholders. Unlike PVC cards provided by third parties, UIDAI’s PVC Aadhaar cards are valid and secure, ensuring that your Aadhaar card remains in good condition and readily available when needed.
