New Delhi: Toyota India is all set to launch the Urban Cruiser today, August 16. The Japanese automaker opened bookings for the hybrid SUV on July 1 for a token amount of Rs. 25,000.
Toyota will offer the Urban Cruiser Hyryder in 4 variants — E, S, G and V. The Hyryder brings change with its powertrain options. It will be available with a powerful hybrid system using a 1.5-litre petrol engine and an electric motor which has a fuel economy of up to 27.97 kmpl.
A more affordable variant of the drive unit will be a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with mild-hybrid technology connected to a 5-speed manual with the option of a 6-speed automatic.

It is a premium offering with comforts such as a 7-inch digital driver display, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof and a head-up display. Its suite of safety features includes electronic stability control, slope control, ISOFIX child seat anchorage, hill descent control and up to six airbags
The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder could offer a fuel consumption of over 25 kmpl in its potent hybrid avatar. While the mild-hybrid Hyryder is likely to offer an efficiency of 21 kmpl+.
Toyota Hyryder S Features
The basic Hyryder “S” hybrid variant may not be feature-rich, but it does lack basic comfort.

It still has a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, auto AC, 7-inch digital driver display, 60:40 split-folding rear bench seat back, rear parking camera and height-adjustable driver’s seat.
Toyota Hyryder Interior
Inside the cabin, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder SUV looks similar to the new 2022 Maruti Suzuki Brezza compact SUV. The car has a two-tone interior with some chrome. The company used upholstered leather and soft materials on the dashboard and door panels.
The two-tone interior will only be available on full-hybrid versions, and mild-hybrid variants will get all-black interiors.

Toyota Hyryder with all-wheel drive
The 2022 Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder 1.5-liter Neo Drive engine with integrated starter and generator will also offer buyers the option of an all-wheel drive system.
Toyota Hyryder Design
The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara share the same design with a new front fascia. it carries a sleek design on the front with thin LED DRLs right below the SUV’s chrome bumper. In addition, there are headlights on the bumper with a slightly different design than other Toyota cars.

Expect the Toyota Hyryder to be priced from Rs 10.5 lakh (ex-showroom). Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, VW Taigun, Škoda Kushaq and MG Astor will compete.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, powered by 2WD e-drive and self-charging powerful hybrid electric vehicle, is able to travel 40% of the distance and 60% of the time in EV mode or zero emission mode.
Color options
The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder SUV will be offered in 7 monotone and 4 two-tone exterior colors.
Monotone color options include Sportin Red, Cave Black, Enticing Silver, Gaming Grey, Speedy Blue, Cafe White and Midnight Black. Two-tone color options are Cafe White (with black roof), Enticing Silver (with black roof), Speedy Blue (with black roof) and Sporting Red (with black roof).

Powertrain Options
The Toyota Hyryder will have two options – Neo Drive and Self-charging Strong Hybrid Electric, which will use a 1.5-litre petrol with 105bhp and 122Nm, along with a 59kW and 141Nm engine. The combined output will be 85 kW (114 hp).
