New Delhi: The all-new Toyota Innova Hycross is expected to make its global debut sometime next month and will go on sale early next year. Now, fresh spy shots have surfaced online, giving us a detailed look at the new three-row MPV.

The Innova Hycross will be a global model that will be sold in overseas markets such as Indonesia and will most likely be called the “Innova Zenix”.

The Indian debut of the Innova Hycross – which will be Toyota’s second hybrid vehicle to be launched here this year – will follow the global launch of the Innova Zenix, which is slated to take place in Indonesia.

Toyota Innova Hycross: what do new spy shots reveal?

The latest set of spy shots is probably the best yet of the upcoming Innova Hycross as it shows almost the entire car from all angles. While parts of the exterior of the new Innova Hycross have been spotted before, these images also give us a glimpse of the MPV’s all-new interior.

The spy shots also confirm the presence of an all-new freestanding touch screen system that is unlike anything offered on any Toyota product in India. It also looks completely different from what the Toyota Hyryder SUV offers.

The new Innova will be approximately 4.7 meters long and will have a wheelbase of 2850 mm, which is slightly longer than the Innova Crysta. It will continue to offer more seating options and a spacious cabin that has always been a key selling point for MPVs. The front and rear doors also appear to be the same size as the Innova Crysta.

As for the exterior, the new Innova Hycross gets horizontally positioned taillights with LED brake lights, but continues with the halogen turn signals.

The model seen in these spy shots appears to be the top model as it also features large alloy wheels that are similar in design to some of Toyota’s luxury models. There are quite a few styling cues from other Toyota models like the Avanza and Corolla Cross that have been incorporated into the Innova Hycross.

Toyota Innova Hycross: Expected features and technologies

Unlike the Innova Crysta, the upcoming Innova Hycross will get a much longer list of features. Expect a fully digital instrument cluster on higher variants, a 360-degree camera, a sunroof, more USB sockets and wireless charging, and as mentioned earlier, a large touchscreen system will also be available.

In addition, it could feature a soft dashboard, have an electronic parking brake on higher variants and LED headlights. The second row of the new Innova Hycross is also likely to get an ‘ottoman feature’ for the captain’s chairs.

Toyota Innova Hycross: The first monocoque, FWD Innova

The new Innova Hycross will be the first Innova to ditch the ladder frame architecture for a much lighter and more advanced monocoque.

It will also come with a front-wheel drive setup instead of the rear-wheel drive setup seen on the Innova Crysta and previous versions. Thanks to the monocoque architecture, the new MPV also gets a flat floor at the back, which frees up more space. The Innova Hycross will be underpinned by Toyota’s TNGA-C modular platform, which also underpins the current generation Corolla.

Toyota Innova Hycross: Two engine options, no diesel

As we previously reported, the Toyota Innova Hycross will ditch the diesel engine and come only with a petrol hybrid configuration, similar to the Toyota Hyryder.

However, the engine that will do duty on the Innova Hycross will be a larger 2.0-litre unit instead of the 1.5-litre engine available on the latter. The hybrid technology will be the same highly localized technology already seen on the Hrydyder to help keep costs under control.

Toyota Innova Hycross: India Launch Timeline

The new Innova Hycross will be launched next month, but the price announcement is expected to happen early next year and deliveries will start after that. The Innova Crysta, which is currently only on sale with a petrol engine, is expected to feature alongside the Hycross.

A Shift Towards BJP's Aggressive Hindutva Amid Opposition's Leadership Crisis

The Maharashtra election may further push the Congress down as it has lost the election at a time when it needed a win most desperately. Though the Congress succeeded in pushing the BJP to a corner and stopping it at less than a majority on its own, it failed to make any headway further.
