New Delhi: US officials have told numerous media sites that the Pentagon is preparing to establish a new military command focused to supplying and educating Ukrainian soldiers, claiming the endeavour will essentially “overhaul” the current procedure for transferring weaponry to Kiev.
According to unnamed officials cited by the New York Times and CNN on Thursday, the command would have 300 employees and be based in Wiesbaden, Germany, where the US Army maintains its European headquarters. General Christopher Cavoli, who oversees the military’s European Command, would serve as the command’s commander.
“The changes, which aim to give a formal structure to what has been improvised since the war’s onset, are roughly modeled on US train-and-assist efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan over the past two decades,” the Times reported.
