New Delhi: The United States in a bipartisan Senate resolution recognised the McMahon Line as the international boundary between China and India which means America officially acknowledged Arunachal Pradesh as an integral part of India.
A resolution has been introduced in US Senate, and Senators expressed their support to recognise the state of Arunachal Pradesh as an integral part of India.
Senator Bill Hagerty along with Senator Jeff Merkley introduces a resolution in the Senate, that said, ” At a time when China Continues to pose grave and gathering threats to the free and open Indo-Pacific, it is critical for the United States to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our strategic partners in the region–especially India”.
“This bipartisan resolution expresses the Senate’s support for unequivocally recognizing the state of Arunachal Pradesh as an integral part of India, condemning China’s military aggression to change the status quo along the Line of Actual Control, and further enhancing the US-India strategic partnership and the Quad in support of the Free and Open Indo-Pacific,” Bill Hagerty added.
Senator Jeff Merkley said while making it clear that the United state sees Arunachal Pradesh as part of India, that the resolution pledged to deepen support to the region, alongside like-minded international partners.
“America’s values supporting freedom and a rules-based order must be at the centre of all of our actions and relationships around the world–especially as the People’s Republic of China government pushes an alternative vision,” Merkley said in a press release.

“This resolution makes clear that the United States views the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh as part of the Republic of India–not the People’s Republic of China–and commits the US to deepen support and assistance to the region, alongside like-minded international partners and donors,” he added.
The resolution passed by US Senate reaffirms that the United States recognises the McMahon Line as the international border between China and India’s state of Arunachal Pradesh.
Internationally, the international boundary between India and China alongside Arunachal Pradesh is being considered disputed between the two nations.
The US recognition of Arunachal Pradesh as Part of India would help India to deal with the border dispute with more aggression.
