New Delhi: Following a cargo inspection and approval on Wednesday, the first grain ship named Razoni leaves from Ukraine. According to Turkish and Ukrainian authorities this is a part of wartime agreement. The ship was cleared to sail through the Bosporus Strait and arrive in Lebanon.

The Razoni, a ship flying the flag of Sierra Leone and carrying Ukrainian corn. The ship was anchored near Istanbul. It was checked by an inspection team for roughly 90 minutes, according to the Turkish military ministry.

Representatives of the United Nations, Turkey, Ukraine, and Russia were part of the team. As the inspectors stepped outside the ship, the Razoni’s horn blew and it went into the Bosporus Strait.

The Turkish Ministry of Defense released images showing an inspector aboard the Razoni reaching into an open container and touching the grain. The tweet read, “The Joint Inspection Team has completed its inspection activity on board RAZONI. The ship carrying 27 thousand tons of corn will pass through the Bosphorus to go to Lebanon in a short time.”

Another Tweet by Turkish MoD, read, “The Joint Inspection Team departed from the Coastal Safety Pier to conduct an inspection of the RAZONI vessel loaded with corn waiting at the Black Sea entrance of the Bosphorus.”

In another Tweet, Turkish MoD said, “The Joint Inspection Team reached the corn-laden dry cargo ship RAZONI anchored at the Black Sea entrance of the Bosphorus, and inspection activity began on board.”

Ukraine’s Ministry of Infrastructure confirmed the ship had passed the inspection. It said 17 other vessels “are loaded and are awaiting permission to leave.”
