Passengers on a British Airways flight from London to Texas had an unexpected nine-hour journey that ended back where it started. Flight BA195 departed Heathrow Airport at 10 am on Monday but had to turn back due to a technical fault.

The plane had reached Newfoundland, Canada when a warning message from one of its Rolls-Royce Trent engines prompted the crew to decide to return to London. Although the problem did not pose an immediate safety risk, the team decided to return to the UK for inspections and the necessary design work.

Passengers eventually traveled 4,834 miles to land back at Heathrow Airport at 7 pm on the same day. British Airways apologized for the disruption and rebooked passengers on alternative flights to Houston.

According to a report, a British Airways spokesperson said: The flight returned to London Heathrow as a precaution due to a minor technical issue. It landed safely and customers disembarked normally. We apologize for the inconvenience to our customers travel

This it’s not the first time this plane has had problems. In October, the same plane overturned when a passenger’s cell phone fell on the seat, and the cabin filled with smoke. During this incident, a flight from Tokyo to Anchorage had to be diverted, to Alaska, resulting in a 33-hour delay for passengers. In another incident in January, a British Airways flight to Delhi was scheduled to take around three hours, spending a total of seven hours in the air before returning to the UK.

The term ‘flight to destination’ is used to describe a situation where a flight departs and returns from the same airport. In this case, British Airways rebooked the affected passengers on the next available flights and provided accommodation and instructions to recover other costs.
