Netanyahu Cuts US Visit Short After Airstrike On Beirut Weakens Hezbollah

Just a day after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the United Nations General Assembly, a strong airstrike shook Beirut. In his speech during the presentation at the UN General Assembly, Netanyahu threatened that Israel would “keep weakening Hezbollah” until it achieves its objectives in Lebanon. After the airstrike on Wednesday, he cut short his visit to the US and was seen returning to Israel, his office reported.

The Times of Israel reveals that “if there wasn’t absolute certainty” regarding Nasrallah’s presence at the site of the recent strike in Beirut, the strike would not have been authorized. Yadlin, speaking to Channel 12 News, revealed that he had sources confirming that Nasrallah “is no longer with us”, but as of now, Israel has not confirmed this.

Strike In Beirut Lead To Major Destruction

The strike in Beirut destroyed six buildings, sending massive orange and black clouds of smoke up into the air. Smoke could be seen for miles, and local news showed the destruction—buildings were turned into rubble, with emergency crews working to put out fires in the debris. The explosion was so powerful it shook windows and homes up to 30 kilometers away.

Nasrallah’s Killing Can Escalate Conflict Between Hezbollah And Israel

Nasrallah’s killing would badly escalate the conflict between Hezbollah and Israel, pushing both sides closer to an all-out war. There are claims reportedly that Hashem Safieddine, who is a senior Hezbollah commander and considered one of Nasrallah’s successors, was among those killed in the attack.
