New Delhi: The findings in the killing of Palestinian-American reporter Shireen Abu Akleh have been unveiled. The findings suggest that Shireen was killed by the bullets that were fired by Israeli security forces and not from the bullets of indiscriminate firing from Palestinians, spokesperson for the UN Human Rights office said on Friday.
Spokesperson of UN Human Rights, Ravina Shamdasani said in Geneva that, “It is deeply disturbing that Isareli authorities have not conducted a criminal investigation”.
The officials of Israel and Palestine have been squabbling over the entire incident. This has led to an increase in the tensions Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. Israel however, stand in denial over the fact that any Israeli soldier “targeted a journalist”.
The Al Jazeera journalist, Shireen Abu Akleh was shot dead on May 11, 2022. She was shot dead while she was covering a raid by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on the Jenin refugee camp in the West Bank. She was shot while wearing a blue-colored bullet-proof vest that read “PRESS” and she could have been clearly identified as a journalist by the security forces.
