Basildon: Virginia McCullough, aged 35, is facing charges in connection with the murder of her parents, John and Lois McCullough, who were both in their 70s, dating back as far as five years ago.
Authorities revealed that the remains of the alleged victims were discovered at the family’s residence, which they shared with their daughter. Subsequently, she appeared in Basildon Crown Court. While the exact time of the elderly couple’s demise remains uncertain, the alleged murders are believed to have occurred as early as August 21, 2018.
During court proceedings, it was disclosed that forensic experts are exploring the possibility that John and Lois may have been wrapped in protective materials in an attempt to preserve their bodies. The disturbing scene unfolded as corpses were observed being removed from the terraced property in body bags on Sunday.
The incident came to light after the officials received reports of concerns for the welfare of two people aged in their 70s last Wednesday. Consequently, the investigation began and Ms McCullough, known to her neighbours as Ginny, was taken into custody on suspicion of murder at her family’s modern three-story end-terrace home on Friday. Following this, formal charges against the accused were filed on Sunday.
Neighbours shared that Mr McCullough, who, if alive today, would be 74 years old. He was a former lecturer at Chelmsford College of Further Education. He and his wife, Lois, who would have been 75, are believed to have had four daughters, with Virginia being the youngest.
