24-Year-Old Indian Student Shot Dead Inside His Car In Canada

A 24-year-old student from India, Chirag Antil, was tragically shot and killed inside a car in South Vancouver, as confirmed by local authorities. The Vancouver Police released a statement indicating that Antil’s body was discovered in a vehicle following reports from neighbors who heard gunshots in the area.

The police responded to a call at East 55th Avenue and Main Street at approximately 11 pm on April 12 following reports of gunshots by residents. Upon arrival, they discovered the lifeless body of Chirag Antil, 24, inside a vehicle in the vicinity. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the investigation is still underway, according to the authorities.

Chirag Antil, originally from Sonipat in Haryana, went to Vancouver on a study visa in 2022 to pursue an MBA. After completing his degree, he had begun working in the city.

Chirag Antil’s family has made a heartfelt appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, urging them to ensure justice and facilitate the repatriation of his body to Sonipat, Haryana, for his last rites.

Ronit, the victim’s brother, recounted that he had a conversation with Chirag Antil on the morning of April 12. He mentioned that his brother appeared happy before the tragic incident claimed his life.

Ronit emphasized that they had been in regular contact with the police officer who delivered the tragic news. However, they were not provided any details regarding the circumstances of the incident. He urged Prime Minister Modi and Minister Jaishankar to expedite the pursuit of justice in the case.

The Consulate General of India in Vancouver expressed profound sorrow over the passing of Chirag Antil in a post on social media platform X.
