This promising news follows the confirmation by the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) of the Americans’ release from Hamas captivity. The two freed citizens, identified as Judith Tai Raanan and her 17-year-old daughter, Natali Raanan, both hailing from Chicago, were now safe with Israeli troops, according to The Times of Israel.
Their release was achieved through negotiations involving Qatar and Hamas, as reported by CNN. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken expressed gratitude to the government of Qatar for its invaluable assistance in securing the release. During his visit to Israel, Blinken had met with the families of US citizens taken hostage by Hamas, underlining the importance of international cooperation in such situations.
The White House also released a statement acknowledging the Americans’ release and the anguish they had endured over the past 14 days.
