Saudi Arabia's new luxury tourist destination, Qiddiya, located near Riyadh, will feature a theme park based on Japan's "Dragon Ball" manga franchise

This news comes just two weeks after fans of the immensely popular series were saddened by the passing of its creator, Akira Toriyama, at the age of 68.

Spanning 500,000 square meters (125 acres), the park aims to provide fans with an immersive experience, allowing them to "embark on the adventures central to the storyline, tracing the journey from the original Dragon Ball series.

In a press release posted on the official Dragon Ball website, Qiddiya authorities refrained from specifying an opening date for the park or disclosing the construction expenses.

According to the statement, the attraction will be divided into seven themed zones inspired by the iconic dragon balls featured prominently in the series.

At least 30 rides are planned for the park, which will also feature a 70-meter (230-foot) dragon as its centerpiece, as outlined in the press release.
