“I used to tell him, ‘One of these days, I’m going to win a million dollars!’ When I informed him about this prize, he thought I was joking,” she recounted.

Pat Browne, the Secretary of Revenue who presented her with the check, expressed their excitement. He highlighted, “Her win also serves as a reminder that the Pennsylvania Lottery funds various programs for older Pennsylvanians, supporting them to lead fulfilling lives.”

The report also noted that this wasn’t Karen’s first lottery win. Approximately 14 years ago, she had previously won a $65,000 lottery prize.

Coffman, who recently retired from her job as a chef at a nursing home, also shared her plans for how she would use her lottery winnings.

She mentioned that after investing a portion of her prize money, she planned to use the rest to move away from Pennsylvania’s cold winters to sunny Florida. “I’ve had enough of the snow!”
