A video is doing rounds on the social media platform – X showing that a speeding truck drags a motorcycle beneath its front tire while the rider hangs onto the side. Subsequently, the motorcyclist filed a complaint alleging the same truck also struck another car. The incident is of Hyderabad, Telangana.

A truck driver identified as Prithviraj has been arrested in a hit-and-run case following the circulation of a viral video on social media, authorities reported.

The incident occurred on April 14. Abdul Majeed, 60, reported on April 15 that, while riding from Aramghar towards Laxmi Gardens, Champapet, his bike was struck by a truck traveling recklessly from behind. Despite Majeed falling and the motorcycle being damaged, the truck didn’t stop, attempting to flee as witnesses captured the event on a phone.

The rider was unharmed, but the motorcycle was severely damaged. Additionally, the same truck hit another car at Champapet T-Junction, suspected to be caused by overspeeding.

According to the police, on the night of April 14, Majeed was riding his bike around 11:45 pm near Laxmi Garden, Champapet, when a truck approached from behind in a rash and negligent manner, hitting his bike. After being hit, Majeed fell on the left side of the road, but the truck driver did not stop the vehicle and tried to escape as people behind it on a motorcycle captured the entire incident on the phone.

The police suspect that the cause of the incident was overspeeding. They are further investigating the matter.

The rider, Majeed, later approached the police and lodged a complaint, alleging that the same truck had also hit another car after the motorcycle incident.

The police have arrested the truck driver, Prithviraj, based on the evidence presented in the viral video. The arrest was made under relevant sections of the law pertaining to hit-and-run cases and reckless driving. The investigation is ongoing.
