London: Known to be one of the craziest culinary competitions in the world, World Gravy Wrestling Championships, was held in the UK back after two years owing to Covid-19 pandemic.
The name says it all, the event is an annual competition held in the UK and has men and women wrestling in a pool of gravy for 2-minute matches. It is a charitable event that raises funds for local charity.
According to a BBC report, the 12th annual World Gravy Wrestling Championship was held on Monday, August 29 outside the Rose ‘N’ Bowl Pub in Rossendale, Lancashire.
As per rules of the game, all the wrestlers have to grapple each other in a pool of gravy for a 2-minute bout.

The competitors are judged not only for their wrestling skills but also for their fancy dress and entertainment value, the report added.
Pub’s manager Carol Lowe explained that the competition is ‘messy’ and said, “Basically, people come in fancy dress – men and ladies – and then they wrestle in gravy and get eliminated as the day goes on.”
The viral clip, which was uploaded 20 hrs ago, has garnered over 80,000 views by now.
