Viral: A bride from Bangana town in Una district of Himachal Pradesh sent back ‘Barat’ as the latter demanded dowry from her parents at the day of wedding.
When the woman was about to marry a man from Galore in Hamirpur, the man asked for a car, a sizable sum of money, as well as the gold jewelry. As soon as the bride learned about the dowry requirements, she ended the marriage and sent back the groom.
The woman’s brother has filed a complaint against the groom’s family at the Bangana Police Station allegedly for demanding dowry.
According to a family member, the woman ended up the marriage while they were at the groom’s family was at the doorstep and were in full gear for the wedding celebrations having all the guests presented to partake in the feast.
The groom, who lives abroad for work, had visited the woman’s house several times in the past including the times when he went for rituals but never mentioned anything about the dowry.
