The short video was shared by the Instagram page Billionaire’s Life Style. A pet tiger is shown in the beginning of the video chasing a man inside the living room of a swanky UAE home. The post is captioned with “Only in the Middle East,” and since its sharing, the video has garnered four million views. One user commented, expressing concern, “So wrong, does not belong here, needs his freedom. This beautiful animal is not a toy.”

It’s worth noting that in 2017, the UAE implemented a ban on the private ownership and trade of wild and dangerous animals. Those found taming such animals as pets face a substantial penalty, including a fine of $136,000 (700,000 Dirham) or a jail term of six months. The law explicitly prohibits the possession and trading of various types of wild and potentially dangerous animals. Only authorized entities such as zoos, wildlife parks, circuses, breeding and research centers are permitted to house wild or exotic animals. The UAE Cabinet has actively encouraged the public to report instances of wild animals being kept as pets.
